Peggy Wertheim is a Surface Design whose career began exploring the batik process and dyes on natural fibers. As a result of this she became totally fascinated with color on fibers and expanded her exploration to include Silk Painting, Shibori, Complex Double Dyeing and Traditional Marbling.  Upon completion of a Master of Arts in Teaching from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), she began participating in 20+ juried shows a year showing her Wearable Art in shows from Massachusetts to Florida to Ohio as well as teaching workshops in the non-show season.

As her career evolved, she choose to do fewer shows, spend more time in her studio as well as expanding her teaching which included:

K-12 Artist-in-Residence for thousands of students

Adult Studio Cleveland Museum of Art Workshops & Teacher Professional Development

Art Therapy Programs

Intellectually & Physically Challenged Adults Learning Centers

Senior Citizens Creative Aging Art Programs

Graduate Coursework for Teachers

Boys & Girls Clubs

Art Centers

Lectures, Demos, private students, and the list goes on.

Her joy in teaching and creating has brought her and her students immeasurable pleasure and creative rewards.  The balance of her time is devoted to her Wearable Art shown in her Etsy shop and on Instagram @peggywertheim, volunteering, swimming, weekly zoom French language groups, travelling and relishing each day.
